Sci-fi & contemporary in Tamil, in Tamil
Without discovering the latest works in Tamil I had a belief that everything in Tamil is all rigid and old. Never read any sci-fi or contemporary works but heard there are some done by Sujatha. I have seen Sujatha's serial and movies scripted by him but never thought it will in par with Western works like " Close encounters with the third kind" or "1984"or a "I,robot"..
Today got bowled out when I read Sujatha vin siru kadhaigal yesterday by the refinement of story telling which I always thought are Western stuff only. I started with "Nagaram" and completed the whole series.
Awareness .. this story telling gives me awareness which I don't get from watching, reading all these other books.
If you go to a new place we have a feeling about that place like a first impression. We co-relate all the actions around us at that place to this first impression though the real fact could be a different. After a while staying in that same place we find our originality and we get awareness. This is one of the awareness, I see in, Sujatha's story telling instigates easily among its readers and gives emphasis to the creativity in more subtle way....
I remembered this scene in some blog, while googling about yen iniya iyandira. Jeano( a robotic dog) is about to be confronted by 3 "big brother" policemen with Sci-fi guns coming towards where they are hiding. Heroine panics " Jeano you will be dead!". Jeano asks her to copy its memory so that "he" can be brought back up with any robotic body.
Sometimes we don't give attention to certain obvious things like "if you are in a unknown bus stop and and a bus is stopping, we are more concerned where the bus is going or will I be home back..We don't mind is the bus working fine or will the driver press the brakes on time etc. One thing I understand from Sujatha's was, known actions, which we neglect to mind, are given importance so that readers are given the reality feel while reading his works. Believe this is fundamental quality for a writer and it feels so fresh when Sujatha writes because is timeline is always new-age and we know his examples are just happening outside our window.
...going to buy some more min puthaganal ( e-books) this weekend.. this time along with Jeyakanthan's. Good day all folks
